thinking inside the box is a pedagogical initative to connect students with archives of latin America.

We are often told to “think outside the box”, a common phrase encouraging creative innovation. Here, we focus on developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for what already exists - what is inside the box.

We’re working with students from the University of Leeds, King’s College London, Queen Mary’s, and the London School of Economics to explore local, international, and digital archival collections dealing with themes of political resistance, struggle, social justice and the fight against dictatorship and authoritarianism in Latin America. Currently, we are working with the Senate House Library’s Special Collection of Latin American Political Pamphlets, the University of Liverpool’s Popular Music Archive, and Tallersol.
